Conversely, when I click on the browser extension button, I always want to unlock it, so I think there should be an option to always prompt Windows Hello if biometrics were setup.Therefore, I do not need or want to have the desktop app unlocked. Many of us use only the browser extension and only installed the desktop app so biometrics would work. I don't know if this is intentional, but if it is I think this should be made optional. The desktop app always seems to prompt Windows Hello automatically upon startup.Finally, if your computer does not currently have a fingerprint reader or fancy facial recognition camera, you can buy a USB fingerprint reader for your computer from Amazon etc for around $30.The exe version downloaded from the Bitwarden website does work. The browser extension does not recognize that browser integration is enabled. Using the Windows Store app version of the desktop app does not seem to work.For biometric login on browser extension, the desktop app needs to be installed, running, and connected to your Bitwarden account, but the vault can remain locked.I have tried biometrics login using Windows Hello, and here are my results for anyone considering using it:
